Biochemistry and Genetics Undergraduate Minors

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics proudly offers two distinct yet equally enriching minors for students keen on delving into the intricacies of molecular biology. The Biochemistry minor provides a rigorous exploration of cellular processes at the molecular level, covering essential topics such as enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, and molecular interactions. On the other hand, the Genetics minor delves deep into the fascinating realm of heredity, encompassing principles of inheritance, genetic variation, and the molecular mechanisms that govern gene expression. Both minors equip students with a specialized skill set poised to play a pivotal role in fields ranging from pharmaceutical research to personalized medicine and genetic counseling.

Eligibility 

We do not have an application, deadlines, or a cap on eligibility hours. As long as you are a current undergraduate student at Texas A&M University you are eligible to pursue our minors.  Declaration of minor is made in the student’s home college or major department.

Students can complete the following forms to apply for an undergraduate minor.

  • Genetics Minor Form (PDF)

Satisfactory Completion of Courses 

Students seeking a minor must: Meet all minor course prerequisites, obtain a grade of ‘C’ or better in all minor courses, and complete the appropriate minor form to have approved and signed by an advisor in our department, you must schedule an advising appointment to have the form processed.
