Biochemistry Graduate Association (BGA)

The Biochemistry Graduate Association is a community of graduate students dedicated to supporting your journey to scientific independence.

Established in 1992, the Biochemistry Graduate Association (BGA) seeks to improve the welfare and educational experience of BCBP graduate students. As a graduate student, you are automatically granted BGA membership. Start taking advantage of the opportunities offered now!

The BGA provides four main areas of support for all students in the graduate program including:

  • Representation in the affairs of the Graduate Program
  • Professional development
  • Fostering community
  • Outreach

Representation

The BGA has elected representatives on the BCBP Admissions and Outreach & Recruiting committees to enhance communication between faculty, program administrators, and students.

All BGA members are encouraged to attend biannual Town Hall meetings where students have the opportunity to shape future directions of the Graduate Program.

Professional Development

The BGA strives to support the career aspirations of all members through regular networking and professional development events. Are you ready to share your science at a conference? The BGA offers travel awards for both domestic and international meetings. Other BGA activities include:

  • Student seminars
  • Annual Research Competition
  • Career talks & webinars

  • International pot-luck dinners
  • Much more!
