Dr. Praveena Kanchupati received her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from South Dakota State University in 2017. During her graduate studies she published research articles, volunteered as a Graduate Teaching Assistant Consultant and mentored several undergraduate and graduate researchers. Following Ph.D., Dr. Kanchupati joined as a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in the area of Biology Education Research (BER) with a goal to understand how students make deeper connections between different biological concepts. Subsequently she joined Dr. Stephen Moose’s lab as a Research Specialist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she worked on generating transgenic sorghum and maize plants using CRISPR gene editing tools. Dr. Kanchupati joined the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M University in Fall 2021. She teaches undergraduate courses and aims to design classes that are inquiry-driven and that encourage critical thinking.
