Research Assistantship in Training and Development

Position Description

  • Work with four faculty members focused on the area of training and development
  • Assist with teaching undergraduate courses specifically related to human resource development, adult learning and instructional design
  • Assist with coordination of classes
  • Provide a positive role model to undergraduates preparing for work in the area of training and development
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a large, dynamic, department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in agricultural leadership, education and communications or closely related field
  • Knowledge and expertise in instructional design
  • Evidence of effective teaching and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Must be fully admissible to respective graduate program
  • Knowledge and expertise in using online technologies is preferred.(i.e., Blackboard/WebCT; audio/video software; Adobe software etc.)

Appointment and Start Date

Position is a half-time appointment (20 hours), renewable each semester assuming satisfactory progress and available funding. Expected start date is January, June or August.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience with starting salaries ranging from $1,284/month for master’s
students to $1,650/month for doctoral students. Tuition may be waived in accordance with University policy. Applications

Applicants must submit an assistantship application and include a letter of interest for the assistantship
specifically detailing the qualifications listed above. To qualify for an assistantship, students must first apply for admission to the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. Because these items must be submitted with the admission application, if already on file, there is no need to submit duplicates.

Admission materials and assistantship application with letter of interest must be received by the Department no later than September 1 (fall) or November 1 (spring). Decisions will be made in November and April.
